Losing weight is actually a very simple concept and in a minute I will show you exactly how to lose weight. And trust me, this method will work.
The concept of weight loss is only made complicated by the weight loss industry who like to cash in on peoples’ confusion and take advantage of them not losing weight permanently. A person given great advice and a great product that actually works will no longer be a weight loss consumer, as they don’t need any “help” any more.
It is true that I am partly in the weight loss niche. However weight loss is just a small percentage of what I do. As a clinical hypnotherapist I also help people quit smoking, improve confidence, fight phobias, and many other things. Just look at my HypnoBusters site to see all the other help I offer. I am not dependant on weight loss alone for my business, and so I am more than happy to help people lose weight for good.
Weight loss really boils down to a very simple mathematical premise, and that is…Energy In – Energy Out
That’s all there is to it really. If the energy you consume is greater than the energy you expend, then you will gain weight. If the energy you burn is greater than the energy you consume, then you will lose weight.
No Excuses. I have often heard from disgruntled dieters that it doesn’t matter what they do or how little they eat, they simply can’t lose weight. Then they often blame their metabolism or their genes. Sorry but this doesn’t wash with me.
This is just an excuse. It is impossible to stay the same weight if you consume fewer calories than you burn. If you burn more than you eat, then material is leaving your body. For you to remain the same weight it must be replaced from somewhere. The only place you will gain this weight is through eating. Calories will not magically appear, that is just impossible. If this did happen, then presumably you could live for years without ever eating!?
Take Responsibility. In order to lose weight you must take responsibility. You must admit that the reason that you are at the weight you are now is because you have consumed more calories than you have burnt.
And this is OK, because the flip side of this is that all you need to do to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. Often it is not a case that people eat massive amounts to gain weight. You only need to over eat slightly and this cumulation can add up over the years and creep up on you gradually without you hardly noticing. So it may be that all you need to do is under eat slightly, and you will have a cumulative effect of losing weight.
Don’t Get Confused. Although getting fit and eating healthy are good things to be encouraged, they are separate issues to weight loss. You can be fit and overweight. You can visit the gym 4 times a week, and be fit, but still over eat and still be over weight. You can also eat some great home cooked natural foods and whilst this is great for your health, if you eat too much of it then you can still become over weight. Get it?
So don’t fall for the confusion tactics of the weight loss industry who like to mash up the concepts of weight loss, healthy eating and getting fit in order to confuse and debilitate you. Just think of weight loss in terms of calories in Vs calories out. That’s it.
The Choices. So you have 2 basic choices if you want to lose weight. You can either consume fewer calories or burn more. Of course there is also a third way which is a combination of the two. Keep things simple.
Just aim to burn about 500 calories per day more than you consume. As a general rule females need about 2000 calories per day to maintain their weight. Males need about 2500. Find an online calorie counter so you know how many calories there are in your diet. It can be quite surprising how many calories there are hidden in some foods and how many calories there are in some drinks.
If you don’t wish to do any exercise then all you need to do is consume 1500 calories per day if you are female, and 2000 calories per day if you are male. This will give you a calorie deficit of around 500 per day.
A pound of fat contains 3500 calories. So if you are in a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day…
500 x 7 = 3500 This means that a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day will give you a total weight loss of one pound per week.
This might not seem like much, but done consistently you will see the results pretty quickly. In 2 months you will have lost about 8 pounds. There are 52 weeks in a year so if you keep this up for a year, then there is no reason why you can’t lose 52 pounds.
The great thing about losing weight at this rate is that it is sustainable for a long period of time. You are not having to starve yourself and be miserable and unhappy. You know what happens if you make yourself miserable and unhappy? You will rebel against your diet and eat more because you will be angry with it.
The words “angry” and “hungry” are very similar for a reason! Being hungry all the time will not bring out the best in you. This gentle way of losing weight is sustainable and will give you great rewards in the long term. Losing weight should not be torture. This plan is relatively easy to stick to in the long term, and can produce some great results. Good luck!
