Start a new Christmas morning tradition with this nutritious red Christmas mocktail. It contains pomegranate, orange, and pineapple to give you energy for the day. Let’s get to know some of the health benefits of these ingredients.

Pomegranate juice

Pomegranate juice contains meagre calories and fat. And it is full of vitamins, minerals, and fibre. You will also get a small amount of protein in pomegranate, which is quite rare in fruits. Pomegranate has plenty of polyphenolic compounds and antioxidants, including punicalagin, anthocyanin, and hydrolysable. Pomegranate juice can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the blood arteries and lower blood pressure. It might help with atherosclerosis which is plaque build-up in the arteries that might become the reason for heart attack or stroke. Pomegranate juice might also help to reduce kidney stones. It can improve your gum health by fighting fungus, yeast, and bacteria in the mouth. It’s beneficial for your brain functions. Pomegranate contains some probiotics which are great for your digestive system and gut health.

Orange juice

Orange juice is a great source vitamin C, folate, and potassium source. It’s also filled with antioxidants, including flavonoids, ascorbic acid, and carotenoids. These antioxidants are beneficial in boosting our immune system and reducing the risks of various chronic diseases. It can upsurge the pH of the urine, thus helping reduce kidney stones. Orange juice prevents inflammation, increases good cholesterol, and reduces bad cholesterol.

Pineapple juice

Pineapple juice is a rich source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin K, copper, calcium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, and manganese. It also contains several antioxidants and healthy enzymes. This fruit is excellent for suppressing inflammation, improving digestion, and boosting immunity. It might enhance the effectiveness of antibiotics, thus being suitable for treating the common cold and fever. It is also ideal for asthma patients as it contains some anti-allergic components.

A glass of red wine. Christmas Mocktail

  • 1 cup of pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 1 cup of pineapple juice
  • 3 cups of soda water
  • 2.5 cm piece of fresh ginger (sliced)
  • 3 springs of fresh rosemary

  1. Take a pitcher and add pomegranate juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, ginger slices, and rosemary. Let it sit for 3 hours, or overnight if possible.

  2. When you are ready to serve, fill the glasses halfway through with the juice. Then add soda water.

  3. Enjoy.
