Massage therapy is a powerful tool for relieving stress, supporting recovery, and improving overall well-being. At Brisbane Livewell Clinic, we combine time-tested techniques with modern practices to deliver care tailored to your body and goals.

Our Massage Therapists in Brisbane, Fiona Woodhouse (Brisbane Southside in Cannon Hill) and Rattana (Rainie) Chaisurayakan (North Brisbane in Wavell Heights), are committed to understanding each client’s unique needs and health history to ensure effective, personalised care. They maintain a strong focus on health recovery, improving your wellbeing, and tailored massage techniques designed to meet your specific health needs, helping you feel better – both physically and mentally – through focused, professional treatment.

Our Massage Services

We offer a wide range of massage therapies across two categories: Remedial (eligible for rebates) and Relaxation. Our Massage Therapists Brisbane have many years of training in these therapies to help their clients relax, recover from injury, reduce painful areas and improve your wellbeing.

If you are looking for personalised remedial massage services, our Massage Brisbane team is here to help with tailored Wellness Plans and empathetic massage therapies.

Remedial or Health-Related Massage (Eligible for Rebates)

1. Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage at Brisbane Livewell Clinic targets specific areas of dysfunction, pain or imbalance. It’s suitable for injury recovery, posture correction and chronic pain.

Note: this is not a full-body massage but focuses on your specific pain or injury.

Dry Needling or Cupping are available as an add-on to your Remedial Massage if required. Both Dry Needling and Cupping are tools that can help release deeper tension and promote healing.

Our therapists treat pain and muscle dysfunction by actively providing therapeutic services, and are experienced in treating musculoskeletal issues using deep tissue massage techniques, so ask them if you are looking for deeper pressure. The techniques involved in remedial massages include a variety of methods tailored to address different conditions, improve circulation, and target muscle tension for optimal results.

2. Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage supports the changing body of expectant mothers, easing discomfort and improving mobility. It helps reduce physical discomfort during pregnancy. This massage supports mobility, relieves fluid retention and gives stress relief.

Note: Out of caution, Rainie does not provide Pregnancy Massage in the first trimester.

3. Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage, often called Lymph Massage or Lymph Drainage Massage, encourages healthy circulation and detoxification through gentle rhythmic pressure. This is a very light pressure massage involving circular motions using the fingertips of the Massage Therapist. It’s incredibly relaxing with amazing health benefits as well.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses light strokes across the skin to stimulate the lymph nodes and promote lymph flow and detoxification. This is a full-body, gentle-pressure massage with a calming effect on the nervous system and requires special training – not many Massage Therapists in Brisbane provide this valuable therapy.

4. Indian Head Massage with Remedial Neck & Shoulders

Indian Head Massage targets tension in the scalp, head, neck, and shoulders. It helps relieve mental fatigue, migraines and neck tightness as well as headaches, jaw tightness and mental clarity. The most relaxing massage many of our patients have ever experienced.

Note: This involves the use of natural oils by your Massage Therapist on your scalp (that may get into your hair) – please consider an afternoon or evening consultation so you can shower at home afterwards.

5. Myofascial Release Therapy (Myofascial Massage)

Myofascial Release Therapy is a hands-on technique that applies sustained pressure to the fascia — the connective tissue surrounding muscles — to relieve restriction and improve movement. This massage treatment is especially effective for supporting postural imbalances, chronic tension and areas of limited mobility.

Specialised training is required and not many Massage Therapists in Brisbane provide this valuable therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What should I expect during my first massage appointment?

Your first massage appointment includes a review of your health history and goals, followed by a tailored session. Your therapist will check in to ensure comfort throughout.

2. Which massage types are eligible for private health rebates?

Remedial Massage is eligible for health fund rebates from most private health insurance funds. You will receive a compliant receipt to claim with your insurer. Ask our helpful Reception Team which of our massage types are classified as Remedial.

3. How long does a massage session go for and how often should I come?

Massage sessions are available in 60 or 90-minute durations, with some 30 minute follow-up sessions available. Some patients benefit from weekly sessions, while others book every two to four weeks.

4. Can I choose the style or technique used during my session?

You can request a preferred style when booking. Our therapists also offer personalised guidance based on your body’s condition. Massage is considered safe during the second and third trimester and while breastfeeding. It can assist with swelling, back pain and stress management.

6. Will remedial massage hurt if I have tension or injury?

Remedial massage may involve mild discomfort, but your therapist will work within your limits. Most patients feel immediate relief post-session. Please note that Remedial Massage at Brisbane Livewell Clinic is not a full-body massage like you may receive in some massage parlours. It is a tailored therapy to work on particular issues or injuries in your body, which you will discuss with your Massage Therapist Brisbane in advance.
