Why Choose Clinical Hypnotherapy in Brisbane
Clinical Hypnotherapy, also called Clinical Hypnosis, is an advanced form of Hypnosis used by qualified practitioners to work directly with the subconscious mind. It uses focused relaxation and proven therapeutic techniques to help change patterns of thought and behaviour, support pain management and help the patient deal with challenging health issues without any side effects.
Unlike general Hypnotherapy, it requires postgraduate training and registration as a Clinical Hypnotherapist. This allows Nicky to work safely with patients who have diagnosed psychological or physical conditions.
You stay awake, aware and in control during every session.

What to Expect in Your Session
Each session is structured and goal-focused, and the common myth of losing all awareness and control while being in a trance-like state does not apply.
Before your first appointment
Our helpful Reception staff will contact you to arrange a free 30-minute phone consultation with Nicky, so that she can find out about your health challenges, understand your goals and prepare for your session. She will also discuss with you what you may feel during the hypnotic state and answer any questions you may have.
During your session
Your Hypnosis Session will include:
Discussion about how you feel after your last session (if applicable)
Review of your goals
Guided relaxation to help your conscious mind
Focus on helping you reach your subconscious and the part of the mind that guides your behaviours and beliefs
Hypnotic induction – basically, helping you relax enough to enable Nicky to guide you in reaching your subconscious mind
Once you are in a state of deep relaxation, making therapeutic suggestions matched to your needs
Reflection and practical strategies for daily life
Sessions last 60 or 90 minutes, in person or online. You remain relaxed, focused and in control.
After Your Session
After sessions, patients often report feeling calmer, clearer and more in control. Many notice improved sleep, reduced stress and stronger confidence.
Nicky will discuss the session with you, get your thoughts and make sure you are feeling ok, and recommend a treatment plan for you going forward (your Wellness Plan).
She will also instruct you to watch out for any behavior change or emotional changes, plus suggest you keep an eye out for how your original health challenge has responded to the Hypnosis session over the next few days and weeks.
What Patients Commonly Experience
During their sessions, many of our patients experience a feeling of deep relaxation and a subtle altered state during which they genuinely feel they can – and have – overcome some of their challenges.
Clinical Hypnotherapy helps uncover subconscious patterns and create new, healthier responses that support long-term wellbeing.
Occasionally a patient has trouble falling into the deeply relaxed state needed for hypnosis to be successful. We encourage these patients not to feel discouraged or like they have “failed”, and we suggest they try again another time, perhaps after having a massage the day before or the morning of, to help them relax.

Clinical Hypnotherapy combines traditional hypnosis with evidence-based clinical techniques to address medically diagnosed conditions, mental health concerns and neurodivergence, whilst standard Hypnotherapy typically focuses on lifestyle goals like weight loss or smoking cessation. Sessions at our Cannon Hill clinic work alongside HRT or as a standalone approach.
